It is a story that begins in 1951, when the master luthier Roman Boiangiuc founded in the city of Reghin, in Mureș County, located in the middle of Transylvania, a workshop for the production of wooden musical instruments, the Hora factory. He, together with 4 workers, performed 37 violins that year. Later, other litters joined this group, the best that the city of Reghin had at that time. In 1952 they started to make mandolins and in 1953 the production of guitars started.

Until it was decided to set up the first wooden musical instrument factory, there were small lottery workshops in Romania, but they were not a sustained activity, so the Hora factory soon became a landmark in the world of musical instrument manufacturers; with the start of exports of guitars, violins and cellos in 1959 came international recognition.

Today, the Hora factory delivers every month more than 4,000 guitars of various kinds and approximately 1,200 instruments from the violin family plus other types of musical instruments.

The Hora factory in Reghin is the largest manufacturer of wooden musical instruments in Europe, which transforms wood into wonderful musical instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, double basses, guitars, mandolins, bouzouki, panpipes, harpsichord, tambourine, xylophone, etc.

The resonant wood used is spruce and maple that comes from the forests of the Carpathian Mountains. After cutting, the wood is stored in covered warehouses for natural drying and aging for about five to 10 years, thus acquiring exceptional acoustic qualities and great stability over time. Exotic woods such as ebony, rosewood, mahogany, red cedar, masaranduba, cedar, are also used in the manufacturing processes of musical instruments in the Hora factory.

The professional instruments of the Hora brand for philharmonics and soloists are manufactured in a special violin workshop with a great deal of experience that ensures an exceptional quality of sound and woodworking.

Today, the Hora factory exports over 85% of the production of musical instruments made in Reghin.
